Penthouse Apartment

New York City

Hutton Wilkinson had tried to purchase this apartment for his client Dodie Rosekrans, and then for himself, seven years before being asked to decorate it by its current owner.  After giving a talk at The Lyford Key Club in the Bahamas, the owner, a single lady, approached Wilkinson and asked if he would like to decorate her penthouse in New York.  "I'll be there on Monday," was Wilkinson's enthusiastic response.  When he got there, he couldn't believe that it was the same apartment he'd tried to purchase seven years earlier,  and the rest is history.  By rearranging the seating, among other things, Wilkinson created a perfect ambiance for entertaining, "It's just like a private little supper club," Wilkinson says. The lady of the house agrees and entertains with aplomb several nights a week to the enchantment of her many guests.  The project was featured in Veranda magazine.
